Today, for many, is the first time we’ve been able to look skyward and see snowflakes falling since perhaps pre-pandemic times. This unofficially marks the start in many peoples’ minds of the cold weather season, but for me it marks the time when we normally begin the prep playoff season for fall sports. Sure, we’ve already had the girls’ golf and tennis state tournaments wrap up, with numerous area athletes excelling at the top level of their respective sports. But there’s something about that crispy cool fall air causing breath to create a pseudo fog over the grass and turf fields across the Coulee Region.
Tonight, several area athletes begin their quests for a state title of their own. Match ups tonight include:
Boy’s Soccer
- Tomah @ Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln
- West Salem @ Berlin
- Adams-Friendship @ Black River Falls/Melrose-Mindoro
Girl’s Volleyball
- G-E-T @ Black River Falls
- Prairie du Chien @ Westby
- Viroqua @ Richland Center
Boy’s Cross Country
- D2 Subsectional 3A @ Stratford: Black River Falls, G-E-T
- D2 Subsectional 3B @ Westby: Aquians, Viroqua, West Salem, Westby
- D3 Subsectional 2B @ Osseo-Fairchild: Blair-Taylor, C-FC
- D3 Subsectional 4A @ Brookwood: Cashton, De Soto, Luther, Mel-Min, Coulee Christian
Girl’s Cross Country
- D2 Subsectional 3A @ Stratford: Black River Falls, G-E-T
- D2 Subsectional 3B @ Westby: Aquinas, Viroqua, West Salem, Westby
- D3 Subsectional 2B @ Osseo-Fairchild: Blair-Taylor, C-FC
- D3 Subsectional 4A @ Brookwood: Cashton, De Soto, Luther, Mel-Min, Coulee Christian
Good luck to all our area athletes competing tonight!
