The Area Community Theater directors Christine Jacobsen MD and Dr. Bridget Owen are pleased to announce that auditions for the winter 2019 production of “The Tin Woman” will be held starting at 6:30 pm in the theater’s newly remodeled Cabaret Room at 907 Kilbourn Avenue in Tomah. There are parts for four women and two men. One of each gender will be about 60 years old, and the others will range from their late 20s to mid 30s.
The play takes place in New York State and follows Joy, a woman who has just recently had a heart transplant. Instead of relishing her heart after that transplant, Joy enters a downward spiral, unsure whether she deserves a second chance at life.
Meanwhile, Alice and Hank mourn the loss of their son, Jack, whose heart was used to save Joy. At a friend’s urging, Joy tracks down Jack’s family to find closure. But are Alice, Hank, and their daughter Sammy ready to accept Jack’s death? Based on a true story, “The Tin Woman” uses humor and pathos to explore loss, family, and what it means to be given new life.
Performance dates for “The Tin Woman” will be February 14-17th and February 21-24th. All evening performances will start at 7 pm and Sunday afternoon matinees will start at 1 pm.
